God’s Promises for Your Every Need: Combating Loneliness

As military spouses, it is easy to fall into the feelings of loneliness. We move away from our families and our friends every three years, leaving us to feel like we are always alone. We find in the word of God that we are never truly alone because we always have our Savior with us. If you are feeling lonely today, I encourage you to grab a notebook, a pen, and your bible to write down these scriptures that teach us to remember how far from the truth it is that we are alone.

What to Do When You Feel Lonely

  • “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” –Hebrews 13:5
  • “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” –Matthew 28:20
  • “For the Lord will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people.” -1 Samuel 12:22
  • “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” –Isaiah 41:10
  • “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” –John 14:18
  • “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.” –Deuteronomy 33:27
  • “(For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.” –Deuteronomy 4:31
  • “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” –Deuteronomy 31:6
  • “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” –Psalm 27:10
  • “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.” –Isaiah 54:10
  • “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” -1 Peter 5:7
  • “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” –Psalm 46:1

Romans 8:35-39 teaches us that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. If God loves us and we love and serve Him, we can have hope in knowing that He is always with us, never leaving us alone on our own.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,”

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
