1 Kings 10:1-2 says, “And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions.” “And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.”
From these scriptures we learn that the Queen of Sheba came to Solomon with an open, teachable heart. She wanted to learn of his wisdom and was willing to take the time to be taught. She knew that in order to discover his wisdom she would need to travel to him and see and hear his godly wisdom for herself. She put her entire being into learning and we too, must put our entire beings into learning more from God today.
We must come to Jesus with an open and teachable heart. We should desire His wisdom and want more of it in our own lives. Like the Queen of Sheba, we must travel in the direction that leads us to God and His throne if we want to be taught by Him. When we go to Him, seeking out what we desire from Him, He will grant us our lessons and our blessings.
God’s wisdom is like a never ending fountain because it will never run dry on us.
1 Kings 10:3 says, “And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not.”
Solomon granted the Queen of Sheba everything she desired to know and learn. He withheld nothing from her. Jesus is the same way with us today. We can go to Him in need of comfort, healing, or wisdom and He will leave our lives and hearts full of His beautiful glory. But in order to receive those gifts, we must be like the Queen of Sheba who went out searching and longing for them.
The Queen of Sheba sat at King Solomon’s feet to learn all that she could. She wanted to be as close to King Solomon as she could possibly be so that she wouldn’t miss anything he may have to teach her. We must also sit at the feet of God and learn all that we can from Him. We must be taught and instructed by Him before we can ever receive any of His gifts and blessings.
When we learn, we grow more deeply into God Himself. The more we aim to be like Him, the fuller we will become.
There are not many scriptures on the Queen of Sheba, but what has been given to us we can apply to our lives today. Just like when we were in school, we sat under the direction of our teachers to learn the necessary material to help us be enriched for years to come. Eventually we graduated and took all that we learned with us into the real world. Unlike school, where it eventually comes to an end, God’s lessons never will end. There is always something that we can be learning from the Lord today. We only graduate from His class when we die and make it to Heaven. Don’t be a wisdom seeking dropout today, but instead be a lifetime student in God’s classroom.
