He Knows My Name

Today is one of those days that I wish I could call my Papaw & just listen to him talk. He always knew what to say to make me feel better or to just talk some sense into me. He was like my dad to me & I miss those talks so much. I may not have an earthly father in my life anymore, but I know the One who does care for me more than anyone on the planet.

We all have those days where all we can do is cry and pray to the Lord because our burdens have become too heavy to bear. Sometimes we can’t explain why the tears are falling, but God knows what every teardrop means to us. God is able to allow the tears to wash away our pain. God can use the pain we are feeling now and use it to teach us who He really is to us.

God is familiar with every little detail that makes us who we are.

Part of 2 Timothy 2:19 says, “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.”

We learn through this scripture that God knows who His children are. Not only does He know of us, but He knows each of us personally. God knows what each one of us is in need of and He knows how to supply that need. We can find peace in the fact that God knows each one of us by name and that He takes the time to get to know every little thing about us. How many people in our lives takes the time to get to know every little detail about us and also takes the time to care for what our needs are? Not very many.

John 10:14 says, “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”

Nahum 1:7 says, “The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”

We all have bad days and days where all we want to do is cry and eat comfort foods to make us feel better. I am having one of those days today and as bad as I feel, I know that my help from God always comes right on time. If we will just trust in the Lord and go to Him in our times of despair, He will always be faithful to deliver us. It sounds so simple, but that is how our God works in our lives.

The formula to healing our pain is trusting and believing in God’s power.

There is a song by the McRae family called, “He Knows My Name” and it is a song I have been singing around the house today to uplift me. There is something powerful by the act of praising and singing unto God when you are feeling down. When we praise God with our mouths and hearts, we are showing Him thanks for being there for us. Praising God in the midst of our pain with worship songs helps to get our hearts and minds onto the only One who matters. Worshiping God empowers us with His strength and power to push forward and to not give up just because the going gets tough.

And He knows my name
Every step that I take
Every move that I make
Every tear that I cry
He knows my name
When I’m overwhelmed by the pain
And can’t see the light of day
I know I’ll be just fine
‘Cause He knows my name

No matter what you are facing today, remember that you’ll be just fine because God knows your name. If God knows your name, He hears your cries and He will tend to those prayers in His time. When the God of the universe knows your name, He knows exactly what you need to be lifted up.
