Today, I’ve been thinking about how we as Christian’s are called to do more than just going to church, singing songs of praise during worship service, going to Sunday school, and listening to a sermon being preached. We are commanded to go to all nations and preach and teach the Gospel of Christ. We weren’t created by God to just warm the church pews every Wednesday and Sunday. We were created to work for God by teaching others about His goodness and the truths that are within His word.
Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
We, as children of God have a calling to do and command to follow. We are the lights of this world. We are a people who hold the truth of God’s word deep within our hearts, who know the truth of His word, and we must not keep it to ourselves. We have a commission to fulfill. We have to reach out to this lost and dying world.
We live in a dark and scary world, but we serve an Almighty, all powerful God who is always there to lead and guide us. We have the knowledge and the love for God and His word. We have what the people of this world need to hear. There is more to our Christian walks than just getting saved and staying saved. There are deeper wells of water that never run dry, that keep drawing you closer and deeper to God. We must step out into those waters and continue to keep going deeper and farther for our Savior. We must be completely consumed with Christ and His ways that people see a light shine so radiantly from us that they see Jesus Christ Himself. We must be bursting with so much joy and passion for our Savior that we can’t keep our mouths shut about Him.
We must be the lights in this very dark world.
We’ve all got a work and call to do in our lives for God. We can’t let the distractions of this world keep us from doing the work we’re supposed to do. We can’t let the distractions of this world keep us from going deeper in our walks and in the word. These things on this earth will one day pass away, but our relationship with God is eternal. The work we do for the Lord while we’re here on earth will be so worth it when we get to Heaven and we get to see the souls that we have led to Jesus Christ.
Instead of feeding into the distractions you have in your life, you need to set time apart for just God each day. Whether you choose to read your bible, to pray, to just talk to God, sing hymns, witness to people about how good our Savior is, or whatever it may be, do it with all of your heart and soul.
Bloom and blossom into the beautiful witness God wants and needs you to be. You may not be called to preach or teach, but because you are saved you have a work to do. Because you are a child of God’s, your work to do for him can be found in Matthew 28:19-20. Don’t just settle for being a church pew Christian that only ever sits on the church pews every Wednesday and Sunday, but strive to go deeper and work harder for your Savior. Follow the example Jesus left for us through the scriptures and you won’t ever be led wrong on how to live your life working and serving Him.
