Our Lifeline

I haven’t been able to post any new blogs the past few days due to traveling. I traveled 16 hours to make it home to Kentucky and then traveled from there to North Carolina for my churches General Assembly. This trip has enriched me spiritually and has completely changed me.

It is storming here in Kentucky today and as I listen to the rain, I can’t help but thank God for how marvelous He is. God knows our every need and if we go to Him in faith, He will be faithful to us in return. This trip has taught me that with God I am able to conquer my fears and that with a whole lot of faith, my needs will be supplied.

God supplies us with exactly what we need, right when we need it. He never shortchanges us.

I didn’t think I was going to be able to make it to the General Assembly this year, but God had another plan. I was also scared of driving alone with just my dog. I was beginning to freak out about the long trip that I would have to make alone, that I had decided I just wouldn’t make the trek. God had a different plan for me though.

Instead of not going due to my fears and worries about finances and driving alone, I decided to pray. I prayed for God’s will to be done and I believed that His will would be fulfilled. I left my beaded bookmarks with my mom to sell for me to raise money for my trip. I had faith that I would be able to sell enough to afford to go.

I saw my prayers answered and my faith in God blessed this past month. My bookmarks raised me enough money to cover my hotel expenses and my dogs boarding expenses. My husbands paycheck was a huge blessing and allowed for me to have gas and food money for the trip. I was so shocked, even though I knew I shouldn’t be.

We shouldn’t be shocked when God answers our prayers. We shouldn’t be shocked when our needs are met more than we thought they would be. Instead, we should praise God for what all He has done and will continue to do.

Prayer is our lifeline in our Christian walks. It takes prayer to conquer fears, to move mountains, to be transformed, and to have our provisions met. Prayer is the key that unlocks the door to our supply closet, which is full of all that we need from God. We have to be praying if we want the supplies within our spiritual closets. It takes prayer to have things happen for us.

1 John 5:15 says, “And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

These scriptures teach us to always be praying. We don’t always have to pray out loud to the Lord, but we should always have a prayer in our hearts and in our minds. When we are busy and working, we can pray silently to the Lord all throughout the day and He will still hear us and work on our needs. Prayer is our way of communing with God daily. We have to commune with God everyday if we want a relationship with Him.

Prayer is our heavenly communication. Prayer requires no phone call and no emails. God will never have to put us on hold before we can pray to Him. We will never have to type out our requests to Him in an email, waiting for Him to get back to us. Prayer is our wireless connection to God, that runs 24/7, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year with zero interruptions because He is always there.

Jeremiah 29:12 says, “Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.”

Job 22:27 says, “Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.”

These two scriptures teach us that we must call upon the Lord and when we do, the Lord will hear us. It doesn’t matter what time of day you call on the Lord, He is always going to be right there to hear your prayers. Not only will the Lord be right there to hear you, but He’ll be there to comfort you as He goes to work on your need.

Our Lord never stops working. He is always listening and tending to our prayers and needs. Our Savior never takes a sick day or a break from working for us.

If you are in need of something today, whatever it may be, take comfort in the truth that God does hear your cries. Not only does He hear you when you cry out to Him, but He instantly starts tending to the need. We serve a God who wants to bless us, but we have to be willing to go to Him for our every need, even when there seems to be no way it will work out.

It takes faith to believe that our prayers will be answered. When we have faith in what we are praying to the Lord about, we will see His hands working within our lives. We have to believe in what we are praying for. When we believe that God is going do His perfect work within our lives, we will see just how powerful and faithful our God really is.
